I Want to See Originality Dang It!

By: Christie

This is not an article busting on Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, for those of it who think it is. In fact, I am a big fan of KKJ, and own a few volumes of the manga. My real problem is how many sites are making layouts with the same pictures, same themes...all KKJ! I am writing this out of the annoyance of seeing fifty billion Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne layouts all over the internet, and the lack of creativity people use! They can't come up with a different way to use the same image! Read on to understand why I am so hostile to KKJ right now!

It's almost sickening to see how many people are obsessed with it... even if they haven't even read about it! They claim to know about it, but end up getting the information, names, and other stuff like that all wrong! I first found out about Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne a little over a year ago. I had watched the anime, thought it was darling, and went on the net to see what the manga was like, because every smart anime fan knows that there is a manga behind every anime series. I found very few sites, and finding images over the internet was almost impossible! I was quite disappointed, and then after a while, some sites starting popping up. And as it is ever so common, a few domains starting using images. But still, it was a rare occurrence to run across a KKJ layout. Then, Cherrycoma.net, a respected and dang good domain used a few pictures of KKJ, and had the domain Access-Time.com. Cherrycoma.net is a beautiful domain, and I am not trash talking about it in any way...so don't think that I am. It seems though that almost EVERYBODY on the internet, or the "anime community" how some people put it, wants to be just like Cherrycoma.net. So of course...what manga takes over the layout of too many sites to count...that's right! Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne! Each time I get on the net, I am still finding sites using KKJ! The funny thing is that they all link Cherrycoma.net. Let's think for a moment...am I the only one that sees the connection?!

This brings me to the point of this article...creativity. I used KKJ as an example..mostly because it really proves that the internet is lacking creativity from its web designers. I understand many people do not have the same programs that many good web designers do, but some do, they just don't want to put the effort into doing some "different" with an image. Have they ever tried to blend different images. A great site that does this belongs to my friend, Vee, of Yumemugendai.net. Her designs are wonderful and original...why? Because, she puts forth the effort of doing something original. Vee does work hard on her layouts, and they are always awesome. Vee gathers many pictures together and works with the different tools her graphic editors have to offer! Many sites think that working with just three of the tools will make the difference. Have they every tried fiddling around with layers in Paint Shop Pro? Have they looked up how to do different things in the help section? No! They don't, and this in my point of view shows lack of creativity! I'm sure many people are sick of seeing the same thing over and over again! I know it's difficult to be original, because I own a website and I know exactly what a web designer goes through.

In conclusion, I want to say this to the potential web designers, and the people who own sites with lack of creativity. Instead of trying to be exactly like a site, trying doing something new, different, and will attract people to your site in a good way! Being different is not bad! Your site doesn't need to be as beautiful as the sites I mentioned above! They need to be your own creation, something creative! Because many people who surf the net, are looking for that! Plus...if your site looks a lot like it...you can't get criticized for copying someone! Be one of a kind!
